They both work, however, CDJ's offer the benefit of being able to put CD's on, burn CD's and mix them, which is often much cheaper than records. A new option you will come across on some brands and models is the functionality of USB. This can be a great way to connect turntables to your PC. The result is more freedom, as you can also play live on air, on internet radio stations. So these are the major features, and types you will find. Which one to go for? Obviously it would be silly to say so and so is the best model. However, the choice you make will come down to your own needs. If you are on a budget, obviously the cheapest pair will be the one to go for, but if you have the money, investing into a good pair of direct drive turntables, perhaps with USB, is a great way to get started in DJ'ing or even as an upgrade.
